Cisco Launched new products
11th Dec 09 BANGALORE: Cisco introduced 61 new products in all categories of its collaboration portfolio, for customer related and inter-office communications. While retaining security, these products make optimum use of online social communities like Facebook for business information.
Company VP (Marketing) Kara Wilson told reporters here that “using the power of social interactive communities in a business environment is a planned strategy. India has the third largest Facebook users in the world. From the communications angle, we found 55 per cent of effective messages are visual.” By enabling business executives always having to work from an office environment or only through meetings in other cities, the Cisco products could further cut down the cost of travel while facilitating communications through its new products, she said. Explaining the capabilities of some of its new products, Minhal Zia, National Sales Manager, India and SAARC said, “The Cisco Enterprise Collaboration Platform is an enterprise social software portal that features a corporate directory with social network capabilities.”

Symantec and Wipro Infotech sign pact to provide new services
8th Dec'09 BANGALORE: Wipro Ltd on Tuesday signed a new partnership with Symantec Corporation to provide data back up and loss prevention, in addition to recovery infrastructure consultancyservices. Announcing the pact here Symantec India Channels and Alliances Director Ajay Verma told reporters, "information is the most valuable asset of any organisation and ensuring it does not fall into wrong hands is critical to its reputation and business. The partnership will offer customers a better insight into data risk".
Symantec's loss prevention solution spans data at the endpoint, in storage and network. It will provide customers the confidence that their information is secure, he said.
Wipro's expertise along with Symantec Veritas Backup Reporter's capability to identify and quantify exposures before they impact backup operations will help customers achieve greater efficiency, security and cost reduction, Wipro Infotech Vice President and Business Head Infrastructure Technology Solutions Division Vikas Srivastava said.
